Our Ingredients
It’s no surprise to Vegetarians and Vegans that some ingredients used in the food industry can come from many different sources – and this can pose a challenge to those opting to follow an animal-free diet.
At Sheldon’s we understand that our products are loved by everyone – and they are perfect for everyone. Whether you like a bacon sandwich, or whether you want to tuck into the ultimate Avacado sandwich – the Sheldon’s range is for you. That’s why we want to assure you that our products are suitable for vegetarians. In fact, with the exception of the Cheese Topped Baps, our products are actually suitable for Vegans too!
We pride ourselves on the quality of the products we make, and we use only the best ingredients from the best suppliers to make sure that you take home the best products for your family. We’re also proud of where our ingredients come from too – and our Technical Team are always ensuring that the ingredients we buy meet our high standards and yours. Below is a little information on some of the ingredients that can sometimes come from more than one source – and about how we source them.
Emulsifiers
Sodium Stearoyl-2-Lactylate
Sodium Stearoyl-2-Lactylate is an emulsifier found in our products. It’s purpose is to strengthen the dough we produce and keep the crumb texture soft over the life of the product. The SSL we source is from 100% plant-based sources.
Mono and Diglycerides
Mono and Diglycerides are an emulsifier used in bakery products. They are the most commonly used food emulsifiers, improving loaf volume and creating a softer crumb. The Mono and Diglycerides we use are sourced from 100% plant based sources.
